Scholarship for Latino Students available November 1

Check out this new scholarship with Univision. This program is created to provide financial aid to outstanding students. The eligibility requirements to apply for the scholarship program include the following:

 Be the first of one’s family to be applying to attend college meaning that neither parents has a university degree

  • Be of Latino descent, regardless of one’s country of origin (does not include students on a visa)
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.00- 3.30 on a 4.00 scale
  • Be in the 12th grade with plans to enroll full-time in an accredited university for the academic year 2012-13 , be already enrolled at a university or in a community college with plans to transfer to a 4-year university
  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree full time at an accredited university during academic year 2012-2013

Scholarship amounts:  Students who receive the scholarships are awarded a minimum of $5,000. If you have at least a 3.30 GPA and you will begin your college studies in the 2012-2013 academic year, you may qualify for an annual award of $10,000 for four consecutive years. To be eligible for future years you are required to maintain your GPA of, as well as all other program requirements. 

 Important Dates:  Application is open to the public November 1, 2011. Application deadline is December 15, 2011
